Roll Installation
Roll Installation
General Info
Rubber rolls are best on top of concrete, low-pile carpet, hardwood, ceramic or porcelain tiles, or on top of compacted dirt. Make sure the subfloor is leveled to ensure safety and a flat surface. If you have very thick carpet that you can’t remove, we recommend laying plywood over it and put the rubber rolls on top.
Strategies for roll installation
We recommend three strategies for rubber roll installation:
- Lay them down loosely. All you have to do is roll them out into place and you’re done. They are heavy enough to stay in place with no adhesive necessary.
- Apply double-sided tape, and put them down. You can easily transport them again if you need to move them.
- Glue them down. This will make sure there is no movement or curling at edges. They won’t be easy to move if you need to change their location.
Installation Tools
You won’t require tools for installation, but if you want to use them here is what some people use:
- Seam sealer to prevent liquid from getting between the rolls (good for pets and water-prone areas).
- Adjustable T-square to measure and mark rolls while laying them down.
- Utility knife to cut the rolls to fit your space.
- Knee pads for extra comfort while installing.
- A helping hand, as the rolls are heavy and require some muscle to move
Tile Installation
Tile Installation
General Info
These are light weight, which make for easy installation. They are best on top of concrete, low-pile carpet, hardwood, ceramic or porcelain tiles, or on top of compacted dirt. Make sure the subfloor is leveled to ensure safety and a flat surface. If you have very thick carpet that you can’t remove, we recommend laying plywood over it and put the rubber rolls on top. Account for expansion, as with temperature fluctuation, these floor tiles can expand and contract.

Maintenance
Maintenance
General Info
Maintenance recommendations are the same for both rolls and tiles.
To keep the flooring clean, vacuum regularly and sometimes go over with a damp mop. Clean up big messes as soon as possible. Keep them covered if outdoors, as they may fade in direct sunlight and the elements that get into rain and snow (such as salts) can get trapped in the pores of the flooring. When you first get your flooring, it may have a rubber smell. Let the room and floor air out over a few days/weeks and optionally wipe it down with some mild soap and water.
